About ‘Homemade Bread ‘N Cheese Whiz”

I named this demo/mixtape “Homemade Bread ‘N Cheese Whiz” as a sort of slang metaphor. Bread and cheese means money, correct? Well, “Homemade Bread” was supposed to establish that I’m making money at home (which I’m not, I don’t use any of my music for profit, that would be copyright. Which, in turn would be illegal). The “Cheese Whiz” was supposed to establish that I have the genius to make money. That, however, could be true. Anyways, I’ve been the type to tell myself that I didn’t want to make a mixtape. I figured I’d be letting myself out sooner than I should. I didn’t want people to hear what I had to say before it meant getting paid for it! In other words, if I wasn’t famous yet, why release my material? I figured it’d set myself up for running out of things to write for when I did make it. It ends up that I posted a song online for one of my other YouTube channels. I made it for Wear Purple Day, a suicide awareness day for those who killed themselves due to anti-gay bullying. I ended up liking the song so much that I wanted to make a whole entire CD of songs. That song, btw, was my LGBT cover of Changes, which, is on “Homemade Bread ‘N Cheese Whiz.” For me, the song was so meaningful that it could be what I needed to push me into the business. So, I started looking at mixtapes in a new light. Instead of looking at it as “damnit, I’m letting out all of my creativity before I have a deal,” I thought of it as “cool, maybe people can see my creativity and I can earn myself a deal.” For me, the highlights on demo/mixtape were the covers I made for “Successful”, “Sky’s The Limit”, “Heartless”, “Changes”, “Let Me Love You”, “Dear Mama”, “Do You Think About Me”, “Love The Way You Lie”, and “Runnin’”. They’re the songs I put the most heart in. All of my songs had heart and emotion in them of course, but those select songs took the most effort to make, respectively. For me, this demo/mixtape flowed to me pretty easily, I barely got writers block and only a few songs I had to record constantly because of screw-ups. Despite the fact, I know I have room for improvement, and I’m going to show you guys that to me, this rap thing is… More Than An Experiment.
